SDOT scheduled to begin work on stairways on either side of the Fremont Troll the week of July 17th.

The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) will be adding some steps and improvements around the Fremont Troll itself to make the area a little more accessible. Information about the project states that the two stairways will be kept open during work. Troll access will be restricted for a week when excavation work is being done. SDOT will try and keep a viewing area open during the day for photos of the Troll. Work is scheduled to take 1-2 months and daytime construction hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Friends of Troll’s Knoll supports this project which will improve the stability of the hillside surrounding the Troll. Originally the hillside was more strongly supported; this project will return that feature to the Troll sculpture.

Stay tuned for updates on volunteering opportunities regarded to planting once the main construction has occurred.
