Deputy Mayor Greg Wong Visits Troll’s Knoll to Honor Norma Baum

On Friday, September 16th, at 3 pm a recognition ceremony was held at the Troll’s Knoll Forest Arch for Norma Baum for the work she did restoring the Aurora Bridge Mural. Deputy Mayor Greg Wong presented a recognition from Mayor Bruce Harrell for her outstanding volunteer effort. The Mural is one of the largest in the city; it is located on the Bridge Way North /Fremont Way North underpass from Whitman Ave North to Linden Avenue North. Norma spent 362 hours this summer restoring artist Patrick Gabriel’s Mural that was originally painted in 1996. Norma Baum is a Friend’s of Troll’s Knoll board member and longtime Fremont Arts Council member. The Fremont Chamber of Commerce provided the paint and supplies for restoring the mural (funds came from a grant from the City of Seattle Office of Economic Development); Norma and other volunteers provided the labor. Deputy Mayor Wong received a tour of the Troll’s Knoll site, the Aurora Bridge Mural, and downtown Fremont where he observed the work that was done repairing the Fremont Rocket.

Friends of Troll’s Knoll has been a supporter of repairs to the Aurora Bridge Mural which is located at the north end of our site.
